……“Most of the devotees of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba are reported to have spiritual experiences, many of which are in the form of miracles, which not only enhances their faith in Baba but also spiritually uplifts them. If one goes through such experiences of devotees as depicted in Shri Sai Satcharitra and other literature on Sai Baba and compares them with the experiences of the present day devotees one would find a close similarity pertaining to many of them. Shri Khaparde, a prominent advocate of Amravati near Nagpur, who used to visit Shirdi frequently, and Kakasaheb Dixit who devoted the later part of his life in the services of Baba at Shirdi have recorded details of such experiences in their diaries.

When one hears about some of the common experiences reported by devotees, one’s mind is transported to Baba’s time at Shirdi. Imaginations become vivid, all worries cease to exist and time seems to stand still. Most devotees have reported that they used to get spiritually charged at the very sight of Baba; disturbing and uncontrollable thoughts of their mind used to vanish, a feeling of purity and love would engulf them.

Baba had a unique way of communicating with his devotees through language, look and touch besides the extremely strong and vibrant spiritual thought waves. He used to relate his thought waves even from afar. These powerful thought waves used to appear in the form of vivid dreams and ideas in the minds of his devotees to convey certain impulses, directions, forewarnings, future happenings and Baba’s love. Those who followed these directions with an open mind benefited amply. While such directions were related by Baba in dreams, the results were seen taking shape suddenly or in due course of time in the actual realities of their worldly life. For example, one devotee saw Baba giving him yellow rice in his dream. When he got up he found yellow rice sprinkled all over his bed. Similarly another devotee found a coconut in his bed when awakened from sleep. Another direct experience as depicted in the Shri Sai Satcharitra was in 1917, when Hemadpant had a dream wherein he saw Baba in the form of a Sanyasi promising to come to Hemadpant’s house for meals that day. At lunchtime, just as the family was about to begin eating, two men, Ali Mahomed and Moulana Ismu Mujavar, appeared at the door and handed over a picture of Sai Baba to Hemadpant. Hemadpant was much moved at the thought that Baba had indeed blessed him by gracing his house for lunch.

There are numerous experiences about Baba appearing physically in different and distant places, while he was in his human embodiment at Shirdi. Devotees have reported that Baba, while sitting in front of the Dhuni in the morning at the mosque, would often refer to distant places and other worlds he had visited overnight despite being physically present at Shirdi. A famous incident is narrated in Shri Sai Satcharitra in 1910, when Baba, sitting near the Dhuni, pushing firewood into it, suddenly pushed his arm into the Dhuni thereby burning his hand. On enquiry by the devotees, he replied that at some distant place, the wife of a blacksmith was working at the furnace with her child tied to her waist. When her husband called her, she suddenly got up and the child slipped into the furnace. Baba thrust his hand into the Dhuni to save the child from the furnace. Another devotee, B.V Deo had sent a letter to Bapu Saheb Jog in Shirdi requesting Baba’s presence in a group lunch he had arranged. Baba promised to attend the lunch with two other persons and did so by appearing in the form of a Sanyasi with two followers.”…….

……“ Lastly comes the example of the rivers. All the above mentioned examples are all objects which retain their identity as separate from the objects to which they are drawn. In the last, namely, the rivers, the perfection of the current of devotion is attained by losing one’s own entity or existence in that of the Divine or the end of the course. The river is inevitably drawn down. Does water go back or upward? It is drawn downward and downward, and finally it meets the ocean. The waters of the rivers were originally part of the ocean, and after being held up in the form of water vapour, cloud and rain, they take the shape of a river. So, it is the oceanic waters that flow through the rivers and get back to their original source. The devotion of the river which was issued out of that immense, endless, infinite expanse called the ocean makes it get back to that ocean and be lost in it. Once the rivers Ganges, Indus, get into the ocean, they cannot be pieced out again as Ganges or Indus water. Purnalaya is the end of the devotion and that is obtained by the jivas surrendering themselves, that is, making Atma nivedana, which is the ninth mode mentioned in the Navavidha bhakti. That is both devotion and also absorption. After that there is nothing further to reach. ”……

When I received Heritage of Shirdi Sai a miracle happened to me. On Saturday, 26th Jan 2008 when I switch on my mobile the word Canada appeared on my mobile screen in green. When I turned it to dial the number I found a message, which said Contact Shirdi Sai Canada. The number on the screen was 4162944804which is similar to Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan, Canada. The address is also on the back cover of Heritage of Shirdi Sai. I saved this message on my mobile. I would like to say it is the grace of my Baba. I always pray him for mankind of universe. Baba is with us every where every moments, everybody should believe it.

On Thursday, 10th January 2008 when I reached Sai Temple Rourkela, Dr. M.R.Das (President of Shirdi Sansthan, Rourkela) gave me a copy of Heritage of Shirdi Sai magazine and told me to read it.. After the Arati, when I returned from Sai Temple, Rourkela to our house at Koelnagar with a garland of my Baba I showed this magazines to my parents, mother and brothers. After some time I saw a locket of Baba on my mother’s sari. It is the blessing of my Baba and my mother put this locket on her neck. She is also a Sai devotee. I pray to Baba always for His blessings.

During every circumstance,
He examines your faith (shraddha) and patience (saburi),
Grants your every hope,
Sai, the incarnation of love.

When remembered truly
Sai showers the rain of happiness freely.
He fulfills the need before it is desired,
Displays His presence before He is remembered.
Sai, the incarnation of love.

In times of calamity,
When you shower some drops of tears,
He lifts you out of every difficulty.
Elevates you at every step;
Your footsteps disappear, but His blissful feet leave sacred trace.
Sai, the incarnation of love.

Dharma is the universal law of living, which should be followed by all human beings. It is the path of righteousness, which is shown or taught to us by our religion and culture. All religions have a code of conduct called Dharma which is to be found in the Holy Books and is taught to us by our Guru. In the Sai Satcharita there are various instances of Baba teaching His followers how to follow the path of Dharma both by action and by word.

Baba went from house to house to collect food, which he then distributed to all. This was the Dharma of the fakir. Asking certain persons for dakshina combined the act of Dharma and Karma. He sometimes asked people for dakshina to help them to get over a past Karma; He asked them for a specific amount that they owed from a previous life or from the past periods of their lives.

Dharma and Karma are both of significance. If we perform our Karma or duties or actions in a Dharmic way, that is, taking into account the law of righteousness, we are doubly blessed and fulfilled. We do not have to carry burdens of guilt, wrong doings etc, which would add to the miseries of our lives as well as to the karmic cycle in which we are all caught.

Every time we do something if we offer it as a prayer to our Guru and God, we cannot go wrong. Every breath we take, every step we take and all our thoughts should be handed over as a prayer; then Dharma and Karma will go hand in hand. We would then have lived as Baba wants us to.
Om Sairam!

My faith is Baba is not due to any good things that happened to me due to His holi grace. It is just a faith in him and I am sure even if I don't chant His name or Sai Satcharita, He is with me. And whenever I'll call Him He'll be there for me.

Share your feelings about Shirdi Sai in Devotees’ Forum

I have been reading this magazine for several years. I find that it gives a lot of information about Shri Shirdi Sai Baba. It also gives us a platform for expressing our views and writing our experiences and sharing them with other Sai devotees. Reading about experiences is very encouraging.

Each and every day I remember dear Sai Baba and my day goes off well. So many miracles have happened in my life which I will share with everyone. I have been reading this magazine for several years and I find that it gives us value education on how we should conduct ourselves and how we can help people live as peacefully as possible in these turbulent times. In this latest issue of this magazine Shri Satpathyji’s message regarding suitable dress for various occasions has impressed me. I sincerely believe that devotees who go to Sai temples and other temples and places of prayer will follow his advice. His wishes are Shri Shirdi Sai Baba's wishes and I think he has expressed in a very appropriate manner.

The Bi-Monthly News Letter published by the organization is really great, wonderful and superb. When I visited USA in October ' 07, had been to a Shirdi Sai Temple located at Chicago. It was an wonderful experience of praying Shirdi Sai abroad. If possible your organization could liaise with such organizations and bring the happenings over there. This may boost the image of your institution / organization.
