KAKA SAHEB DIXIT - The devotee par-excellence of Baba

........"The metal of faith, therefore, can only be tested under adverse circumstances. Faith brings out the qualities of love, sacrifice and also agony in their fullest form. Only the person, who has the capacity and grit to go through these experiences, should enter the path of Sadguru. The Sadgurus by giving both temporal and spiritual support try to improve upon the quality and magnitude of faith in the devotee.

As the faith of the devotee increases and he starts taking bigger and bigger risks, the support of the Master increases and is received in critical moments. Slowly the devotee feels that neither his friends, family members nor the society around can permanently sustain him in this world and beyond. He believes that even if in this world some material or emotional dependence may be necessary from the family members, in the nether world after death only the Sadguru can help him.

Therefore, like Kaka, he moves away slowly from the established norms of social or family relationship and enters into a more perfect, complete and eternal relationship with the Sadguru. The satisfaction of his needs gradually become minimal and he slowly starts depending on the Sadguru only. The society in which he was born, the immediate family members and the relatives, generally do not understand and appreciate such internal changes in the devotee due to their ignorance.

The way the Sadguru works on such a devotee is inspirational. Sometimes the devotee may even be seen acting like a possessed man while doing certain jobs pertaining to the Sadguru, which the closest of the relatives would not be able to understand at all. Even if they understand their own insecurity prompts them to resist such changes. These relatives initially start opposing such changes in the true devotee.

They reject his thoughts as impractical or as merely imaginative and try to block his path through various methods. While doing so the immediate family members who love him do generally think that they are trying to help the devotee to return to the reality of life but they do not know that when the Sadguru is working on some one internally, no power on earth can stop his evolution.

Nevertheless, the devotee undergoes a lot of agony internally because of such misunderstandings but is not able to explain it in clear logical terms as to why he is behaving like this - crying sometimes, singing at times, talking to himself at times or simply sitting for hours and only thinking.

Slowly he realises that the ‘Saathis’ (friends) of life in different relationships like parents, spouse, children, friends have a limited role for a limited period of time. But the ‘Saathi Aakhirkar’ the friend at the end, the friend forever is the Sadguru. When such a faith is firmly established between the Sadguru and his devotee then the worldly existence seems illusory to him. Kaka Saheb’s own experience is depicted in one of his writings of 1922 which reads:

“Nana Saheb Chandorkar came to Mumbai and he introduced Maharaj to people of Mumbai through the bhajans and commentary of Das Ganu. Because of these kirtans people from Mumbai and surrounding areas became very much attracted towards Maharaj and went for his blessings.

The other person mentioned above is the writer himself. Since he was also very close to Maharaj during that time and came out of social activities of Mumbai. Because of this, it seems, all the newspapers reported that this writer had turned bairagee. Many people even went to Shirdi to seek the blessings of Maharaj because of whom this writer had reportedly become a bairageee. ”

Inspite of all the rumours and news paper reporting’s spreading different stories about him Kaka Saheb Dixit, the child of Baba relied on Him alone even when the society around was offering him many others options. During that time he must have undergone tremendous agony, trying to explain to every one his faith in Baba and others not being able to understand.

This is the quality of faith that is needed before anyone can brag about his own faith. In any case a man having such faith in the Sadguru will be so ego-less that he would not even talk about it. That is why I hold Kaka Saheb Dixit as the devotee par-excellence of Baba and offer my respectful salutations.".........

Q & A

Many people say that Heaven lies at the feet of Guru. When and how can one experience this?

Washing, worshipping and serving the feet of a Sadguru is one out of the nine methods of devotion prescribed in Hinduism. After the Guru takes ‘Samadhi’ i.e. leaves His physical body, one should meditate on His feet. Not only the feet but one should also meditate, according to Baba, from feet to head and from head to feet.

To keep the feet of Guru in one’s heart reflects the attitude of egolessness, serving Him and surrender. Here we do not bear the attitude of companionship (Sakha) with the Master but rather the attitude of being at His servant (Dasa).

The worship of His feet means surrender at His feet and obeying His every command without questioning. A Sadguru is a reservoir of spiritual energy which flows through His feet. We are bound to receive that spiritual energy when we touch His feet.

BABA MAY I ANSWER book by Shri C. B. Satpathy released on Ram Navami For details see www.heritageofshirdisai.org

……“God-realisation or Self-realisation is not a thing given, but the pupil is given the necessary preparation and facilities to attain that state. Then, the saying of Tukaram becomes true. ‘Apana Sarika Karitat Tatkal’. This means, ‘The Samartha Guru turns the sishya immediately into his own likeness’.

Allowing some latitude for hyperbole for purposes of effect, there is substantial truth in this saying. Hence one may recognise that the highest use which any sane man can make of a Guru is to get the very highest benefit possible, namely, Self-realisation and God-realisation.

This is the highest but, in the vast circle of sadhakas and of our readers, there are many who would not think of the highest at all, but would have their own hankerings or longings, which are by no means to be treated with contempt. For instance, the achievement of the position of an ‘Ankita’ child may be referred to as one of the smaller or preliminary gains of the sishya when approaching a Samartha Sadguru. What ‘Ankita’ means will be seen by the following stanza, which is part of Narayana’s daily Arati song sung in places fike Sakori and Shirdi.

Jo saducha ankita jiva jhala
Tyacha ase bhara niranjanala

This means, ‘Where a sadhu (a Samartha Sadguru) has earmarked a pupil as one for whom he undertakes complete responsibility for both spiritual and temporal welfare and for the entire period of his life (or lives), there every responsibility concerning that pupil’s welfare rests upon the shoulders of that Niranjan, that is, one who is almost God in respect of his power and nature’.

This appears to be a truism or platitude - but is really a revelation of the existence of Niranjanas and their Ankitas in present day life. Niranjan strictly means having no ‘Maya’ or having crossed the borders of Maya. Compare the Gita verse ¬VII, 14.

Daivee hi eshaa gunamayee mama maayaa duratyaya
Maameva ye prapadyante maayaam etam tarantite

That is, ‘This three-fold Guna (Satva, Rajas, Tamas) constituting My Maya is hard indeed for anyone to cross. But he who takes refuge and surrenders Tan, Man, Dan (Body, mind and possessions) to ME, Iswara, crosses this Maya’. So Niranjan is one who has crossed the three-fold Maya, who has identified himself with Iswara and is possessed of Ashtaiswarya (Animaadisiddhi), divine powers that can bear every responsibility of another soul without regard to place, time, or extent of time, that is, whether it is generation or centuries.

One may be aghast at the idea that any responsibility can be undertaken indefinitely or for centuries. But Baba (being a Niranjan) expressly undertook such responsibility. When Mahlsapathy was afraid that the Muslims would come and beat him for worshipping Baba with sandal paste after he left the Mosque premises, Baba assured him that neither those nor any other persons could molest him either in this life or in any future lives of his.

Baba told the Bandra youth, who prayed to him that he should be always with him in future lives, that he had already been in previous lives along with him and looking after him, and that for three more lives that were necessary for him to be born to work out his remaining karma, Baba would be reborn and be with him. Similar assurances were given for indefinite periods to M.B. Rege, etc.

One reading the Gospel of Sai Baba, that is, B.C.S. 400-450, would notice that Baba referred to ten thousand years back, saying ‘I was here ten thousand years ago’. He told Shama that for 72 janmas or births he had been with him and that he had never touched him at all till then.

That is, he recalls events of 72 janmas and knows he has been protecting his devotee all these janmas, that is, over 2,000 years. Especially in this janma when Shama, an almost illiterate and helpless villager, was obliged to depend entirely upon Baba. Baba looked after all his interests and provided him and his children also with means of subsistence, with comforts, with safety, and position - as he provided to many others.

When G.G. Narke was introduced to Baba, Baba declared that he had known him for 30 janmas. If a janma is roughly taken to be even 30 years, this takes us nearly a thousand years back. Hence, to give an undertaking, which appears to be definite in point of time, is nothing for a Niranjana. The undertaking is also indefinite in respect of the sort of attacks that may befall a sishya. Sri Rama said -

Sakrudeva prapannaya tava asmi iti cha yaachate
Abhayam sarva bhutebhyo dadaami etat vratam mama

This means, “If a person once surrenders and takes refuge with me saying. ‘I am yours’; I undertake to protect him from all creatures. This is my vow”. Sri Rama does not limit either the time or the nature of the attack upon his dependants seeking protection.

Similarly Baba, who is nothing but Sai Rama, gave undertakings indefinite in point of time, persons, or things attacking devotees or the place. As far as we are able to see, both Ayodhya Rama and Shirdi Sai Rama kept up the promises that they made. See how Baba protected Gowri and the coward Basappa, birth after birth.”……

This whole Universe, with its varied natural forms and creations is a manifestation of the ‘Will’ of God. The universal life force behind this reality of Brahman is the positive energy – pure universal consciousness, ‘Self’ being its integral part. At the individual consciousness level therefore "He is the real Me and real You". One, however, cannot perceive Him with gross eyes.

The veils of Maya form layers of illusions blocking the vision to Almighty Brahman. To attain this wisdom, one has to approach a worthy Saint: a Sadguru, who has himself, attained God vision. What cannot be achieved through reading of Vedas and other religious scriptures or hearing religious lectures, can be achieved under the blessings and guidance of such Souls.

The objects of life such as Dharma, Artha and Kama are achievable by our efforts but the fourth object ‘Moksha’ can be attained only with the blessings and guidance of a Sadguru. Shri Shirdi Sai was such a Sadguru who while living in physical form, by His 'life's actions' always imparted spiritual wisdom and showed people, irrespective of caste, colour & creed, the path to spirituality and liberation. He continues to guide and bless one and all even today from His 'Samadhi' in SHIRDI.

SAI always said “We get human body as a result of merits in the past births and it is worthwhile, that with its aid, we should obtain devotion and liberation in this life." The purpose of life indeed is not to live a physical existence in this materialistic world, full of evils of passion, anger, pride, envy by man against man, generating 'negative sanskars' but to realize 'Self and 'Brahman'.

This 'Self of ours is surrounded by three basic walls of Gross, Subtle and the Casual Bodies. There are several paths to pierce these three walls before experiencing glimpses of divinity in the 'Brahmrandhra' the Seventh ‘Sahasrashar’ Chakra. The Four known paths are : 'Bhaktiyoga', 'Karamayoga', 'Jnanayoga' and 'Rajyoga'.

Whatever path one may follow, it is always a lifelong process of 'surrender' and deep concentration, with all purity of mind and intense desire to realize 'Self and 'Creator' of this Universe. When the powers of mind are concentrated and turned back upon it, the mind penetrates its innermost secrets and enlightens us by revealing the real meaning of man's existence in this world.

The journey to spirituality realized through any chosen medium, helps remove negative energy within a man, and transforms his Sanskars gradually with positive energy. This positive energy then radiates his ‘inner Self’ and the 'aura' around him. The inner dynamism, joy, peace and compassion emerge from this chosen path of Divinity.

As this spiritual awareness expands, a Sadhak is able to see through 'Maya' and finally, the divine light which communicates to him - 'Aham Brahmasmi'. The Sadhak begins to live within the spiritual fragrance of Satya, Chita and Anand – an experience of absolute Existence, Knowledge and Bliss.

The truth and intrinsic strength in all the four paths to Self realization and realization of God, however, lay in the whole hearted "devotion and surrender” – an unconditional and unflinching faith in the existence and supremacy of Almighty.

All spirituality is in fact embodied in the "Total Surrender." Bhagavad Gita expresses the same secret 'Sarva Dharman Parityajya Namakan Saranam Vraja’. It means be thou fully surrendered to His Will. All your sins will be pardoned. Holy Bible reiterates the same message. Prophet Muhammad always strolled about with His head lowered and His message was "Be surrendered".

Sai Baba is not finite or limited. He dwells in all beings from ants and insects to God Brahman. He pervades all. How beautiful one day at noon after the Arti, He gave the following advice to Anna Chinchanikar : “Remember that all what you do is known to me. I am the inner ruler of all and seated in their hearts… I am the controller the wire-puller of the show of this universe.

I am the Mother-origin of all beings the harmony of the three gunas, the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer. Nothing will harm him, who turns his attention towards Me, but Maya will lash or whip him who forgets Me. All the insects, ants, the visible, movable and immovable world is My Body or Form.” By this Baba conveyed that He is infinite, omnipresent and controller of this universe. Baba also said “I feel indebted to him who surrenders himself completely to Me, and ever remembers Me, I shall repay his debt by giving him salvation.”

Once a rich gentleman came to Baba in Shirdi and asked for a ‘Quick Brahman Jnana’. To teach the lesson of Brahman, Baba made him sit in the Masjid and despite his insistence of ‘Brahman Jnana’ engaged him in some other talks. Then He called a boy and asked him to go to Nandu Marwari and get from him a hand loan of Rs. 5/-. The boy went, but returned saying that Nandu was absent and his house locked.

Then Baba asked him to go to Bala grocer and get from him the said loan. Again the boy was unsuccessful. This went on twice, thrice and with the same result. The rich man had a bundle of currency notes and if he knew that Baba would return the loan, could have given that money to Baba. He, however, wanted from Baba the greatest thing in the world ‘Brahman Jnana’.

The rich man, getting impatient again asked Baba about ‘Brahman Jnana’ and Baba told him that He was in fact showing him ‘Brahman Jnana’ only but unfortunately, he could not see. It is, thus, the veils of ‘Maya’ which blocks the vision to the reality of Brahman.

By above preaching Baba conveyed that for being able to realize and see Brahman one has to Surrender desires of Five Senses, Mind, Intellect and Ego. It is only by this process of renunciation/vairagya that one is able to move towards the path of self realization. As one achieves richness and strength in his inner purifications, he is able to attain ‘Brahman Jnana’.

The path of ‘Self Realization’ is ‘ as hard as to tread on the edge of a razor.’ All saints have advocated that to get the knowledge (realization) of the Self, ‘Dhyana’ is necessary. If one practices it continuously, the vrittis (thoughts) will be pacified…. To realize Brahman, one could meditate either on the form or formless nature of Sai.

His formless nature is knowledge incarnate, consciousness and bliss (Satta, Chitta, Anand). If one cannot do this, he/she should meditate on His form from top to toe." Hemadpant in Shri Sai Sacharitra says "Look at Baba's posture, He is sitting with his legs folded, the right leg held across the left knee….

By this posture Baba means to say, as it were if you want to see My light, be egoless and most humble and meditate on my toe through the opening between the two branches, index and middle fingers and then you will be able to see My light. This is the easiest means of attaining devotion, the ‘Moksha’ the real aim of human existence.

Our human existence will be rendered meaningless if we are unable to understand the purpose of this life and know the basic truth of human birth. Human birth is result of untold sufferings and struggles in eighty four lakh species. Human form is the most nearer form of God with inherent God like powers lying dormant in the gross body.

It is awakening of these inherent super natural divine powers that a man in physical existence realizes his Godly form and merges his individual consciousness with Universal consciousness. He is one with Brahman the 'Allah Malik' as Baba used to say. The path to this sole aim of human birth is inherent in "Surrender" a ‘Total Surrender' to God Generator of Divinity. Sai is thus Generator of Divinity Look to Him and seek His blessings for ‘Moksha’.

I would like to share a very recent incident in my life with all the Baba devotees.

I was well placed and working with a leading MNC in a senior position in Gurgaon and was looking for a change in job for better prospects. In the month of June I gave three interviews and with Baba's grace I got an offer letter from two companies. I did not go for the final interview in the third company thinking it was very small. I chose the biggest brand and company out of the two and planned to join in the mid of July, 2007.

The company is a super brand in India and things started out fine. My boss was an expatriate lady. She liked my work very much. I had to attend one conference in Mumbai with her and next day was my birthday followed by the weekend. For long I had this urge to celebrate my birthday with Baba in Shirdi. So I asked my boss if I could take leave for one day and celebrate my birthday in Mumbai. I did not tell her that I planned to go to Shirdi because I thought she would not understand. Grudgingly, she obliged.

But a problem arose. My boss had to make a presentation on Monday afternoon, and I had to prepare that for her. So she asked me if I would be able to deliver and whether I needed to cancel my plan to extend my stay in Mumbai. I told her I will do it over the weekend and send it to her on Sunday.

So I took a night bus from Mumbai and went to Shirdi. When I reached Shirdi I had great difficulty in getting a hotel because they do not give a room to single people. I failed to understand why. Finally when I prayed to Baba, literally in tears, one hotel gave me a room.

After my bath I went for Baba’s darshan and it was the most beautiful experience for me. Now I plan to celebrate all my birthdays in Shirdi if Baba permits.

I took the night bus back to Mumbai and reached in time for flight to Delhi in the morning. I reached Delhi safely and made the presentation for my boss over the weekend. The only problem was that I finished it late Sunday night and even though I tried very hard, I could not send it to her due to a bad internet connection.

On Monday morning my boss was very nasty with me due to the delay from my side, for which I genuinely apologized to her many times. She made the presentation and it was appreciated. But in the evening she called me and told me that she does not trust me as I had delayed giving her the presentation and chose to take a day off and celebrate my birthday instead of working on the presentation.

Well next day I was called her office along with the HR person and was told that she does not want me to work in her team and so I should resign or else the company would terminate my position.

It was the worst moment in my life. I did not know what to say or do because inspite of my apology she was adamant. My only strength was my belief that nothing wrong can happen to me just because I had spent my birthday with Baba at Shirdi.

Since I did not have any choice I called the other two companies that were much smaller in brand and size to check if they had hired anyone. The bigger brand out of the two companies had already hired somebody for my position and when I called the smallest company out of the three, I was told that I can come for the final interview with the MD in three days time since he was out of town.

So I asked the HR person to give me three days before I resigned, and treat them as leave, so that at least I could say that I was still working. Those three days were the longest in my life. I did not tell my parents because I did not want to give them any stress. Somehow, I had the very strong belief that Baba will take care of me and do the best for me. This kept me going for those three days.

Finally I went for the interview. The MD met me as if he had already made up his mind to hire me. He just told me what objectives I have to meet. I got a better designation and salary package then earlier.

With Baba's grace I joined this company, which is located at a distance of 10 minutes from my home. Earlier I used to travel to Gurgaon from Delhi and I used to drive for two hours in the morning to reach office.

With Baba's grace I was not out of job for even a single day. I got a better designation and package and additionally my office is so near to my home. I don’t have to drive for four hours each day from Delhi to Gurgaon and back.

Moral of the story is don’t shake your faith and belief in Baba when you face any adversity. We are his children. He will take care of us. He has no option but to come and wipe our tears when we cry.

Where are You My Lord? Where are You?

I have searched for You
In temples and ashrams
In masjids and minars
But, I failed to feel You.

I have searched for You
In churches and chapels
In gurudwaras and gopurams
But, I failed to absorb You.

I have searched for You
In discourses and bhajans
In meditations and murthis
But, I failed to invoke You.

I have searched for You
In mountains and valleys
In forests and caves
But, I failed to see You.

I have searched for You
In rivers and rivulets
In brooks and lakes
But, I failed to trace You.

I have searched for You
In flowers and fragrances
In the universe and ether
But, I failed to know You.

I have searched for You
In swamis and sadhus
In gurus and samadhis
But, I failed to get You.

I have searched for You
In japa and tapa
In fasting and reciting
But, I failed to hold on to You.

I have searched for You
In retreats and resolutions
In resorts and rationalisation
But, I failed to meet You.

I have searched for You
Everywhere every day and night
It is now beyond my imagination
Reveal Yourself Oh my Lord!

Ah! You are here my Lord, within Me!
Just waiting for me to open up to You
Yes, You will not reveal to half-hearted efforts
Unless I submit myself by thought, word and action

My Lord! You are within me
But, fool am I that
I searched for you outside
Without giving up what I am holding on to
And living upto your expectations.

Due to my ignorance and arrogance
I failed to enjoy Your love for me so far
You are just waiting for my correct moves
To take me into Your lap.

Thank You My Lord!
For the transformation
Now, I can see You clearly
In every beam of the Sun-rays
In every moon-lit night
In every flower
In every smile
In everything animate and inanimate
In fact, YOU ARE and nothing else.

Thank You My Lord for Your Blessings and Love

Technological revolution has made no difference to bring about happiness in this world. Man is unhappier now than he was ever before. He is surrounded by chaos, discord and disharmony in the society. Man may appear to be materially wealthy, however being spiritually poor he is unable to recognise that unhappiness stems from within himself.

The qualities such as selfishness, thoughtlessness, greed, envy, hatred and anger contribute to unhappiness. When one does not think of others but himself and his needs take precedence over everything and everybody. This results in asking for unreasonable favours of others which he, himself would not be ready to bestow on them. When it is time to return the favours he outright refuses to help.

Expectations when not fulfilled result in bitterness and disharmony. There will be harmony only when one consciously “treats others as they would like to be treated” at all times which reflects that person is endowed with spiritual qualities of compassion, empathy and understanding.

It is to unlock the internalised treasures of empathy, compassion, kindness and bring about harmony, many saints have walked on earth. The basis of spiritualism is to impart an understanding of the universality of God to people. Secularism in India provides a perfect platform for learning about spirituality. It may be this feature, that has drawn out various incarnations to this land to face the challenges in bringing about harmony in a diverse society.

Shirdi Sai Baba is one such incarnation, who has contributed to national integration without starting any new religion. Baba's key principles were faith and patience, which, if practiced would ferry one towards salvation. These virtues form the crux for spiritual progression as they are followed by qualities such as tolerance, empathy, compassion and humanness.

The reason why many people from all walks of life are continually being attracted towards Baba and His teachings is because they are able to identify themselves with the common human principles without linking to any rigorous and formal religious practices. Baba had no rule of thumb to assert the importance of unity. He took every opportunity to din these principles into His devotees.

Baba lived the life He wanted others to follow. Baba's mode of living conveyed the message that it did not matter what religion one practiced; it is the inner expression to harmonious behaviour and thought that mattered. Baba lived in a Masjid and looked like a Mahomedan and advocated practice of circumcision depicting that He was a musalman.

At the same time He had His ears pierced, hung bells, blew conch, lit scared fire (dhuni), used hand mill for grinding wheat, sang bhajans and allowed people to worship His feet by offering Arghya according to Hindu traditions. Baba cooked vegetarian and non-vegetarian food alike and distributed to those devotees who are accustomed to eating such food. He also collected food from 5 houses with all solids in Zoli and all liquids in a tin pot and consumed the same. This act conveys the message that no matter how or who prepares food, it is meant to nourish body and one must eat to live to carry on the work God destined for us.

Baba did not interfere with anybody's religion nor did He say one is better than the other. He allowed people to express their devotion through the rituals to which they are accustomed. The simultaneous procession of flags by Hindus and Sandal procession by Muslims on the Ram Navami day is a proof of this fact, which is being carried on to this day in Shirdi.

He encouraged Gopal-Kala ceremony on Gokul Ashtami whilst on Id, He allowed Mahomedans to say their prayers (Namaj) in the Masjid. Baba allowed people to worship Him as they would normally worship Guru/God in their homes. He seemed to convey that no matter what expression one adapts to show their love towards their “Isht Devtha”, it is all received by God as long as it is sincere.

Baba gave instructions to people from all walks of life alike. Baba knew the content of all the scared scriptures such as Bible, Quran, Geeta, Upanishads etc. and corrected people accordingly. To give few examples: Nanasaheb Chandorkar's ignorance was removed by giving correct interpretation of the stanzas from Bhagavad Geeta.

Knocking off pride of Javahar Ali and showing the world how one should conduct themselves in the presence of Guru. Baba accepted Haji Siddik Falke and showed Him the essence of Quran whilst with Megha, He destroyed the caste barrier Megha had, by working on Megha internally and drilled into him the fact of universality of Atman.

Baba’s grace encompassed people from all religions and nationalities as well. Nanasaheb was able to relieve the Irani gentleman’s ailing daughter by mere application of dust by invoking Baba’s blessings and applied to his wife’s forehead. The Parsi Mill contractor, Rutonji, ran to Baba seeking blessings for a child and his wish was granted.

Captain Hate's sincerity and devotion were recognised by Baba in accepting the vegetable and returning the consecrated coin to Hate to keep it for his well being. Baba made no distinction between people based on socio-economic situations or religion. The fact that Baba had both Bhagoji Shinde, the poor leper devotee as well as rich millionaire Buti both serving Baba based on their capacity is a proof of Baba’s non-discriminating quality. Baba saw divinity in all beings and conveyed the same through His actions to people, by feeding dogs, nurturing plants, and playing with kids.

One of the main reasons for chaos in a society is fights and arguments. Baba discouraged arguments, as they stem from Ego. In order to divert the minds of devotees Baba promoted feeling of oneness by involving them in bhajans and spiritual discussions. Baba's constant advice to all was to this effect “Rama and Rahim were one and the same; there was not the slightest difference between them.” It is only when people live in harmony forgetting their differences that they would then attain God’s grace and their progress in both spiritual and material world would be faster.

As followers of Baba it is our duty to inspect our behaviour and check our ego and monitor our inner self to see that we are walking in the path He showed us. This is the best tribute we can ever pay to our Master to live by His words. May Baba bless us all and guide us always.

Will You, my Lord, let go the hold?
You will not, You will not,
You will not let go,
However bad I be.

Will You, my Lord, let me waste my years?
You will not, You will not,
You will not let me waste,
However dull I be.

Will You, my Lord, let me run to ruin?
You will not, You will not,
You will not let me run,
However wayward I be.

Will You, my Lord, let me escape Your eye?
You will not, You will not,
You will not let me escape,
However wanton I be.

You cannot but rush to rescue Your own,
You cannot delay for weighing pro and con;
You cannot stay unconcerned when we weep;
You cannot but respond to the prayers of the deprived who are in need.

Our daily life should start with prayers. The moment we get up from bed let us chant Om Sai Sri Sayee Jaya Jaya Sai Guru Sai and thank Him for allowing us to have a good sleep and to allow a good prayerful day also. Then comes nature worship. Every one goes out to office or place of business.

How many look up at the sky and say thanks to Suryanarayana. This completes your sandhya /pratha karma in a very effective way. While eating food again say thanks to Sai. This way you are inviting Sai to be with you throughout your life. This type of prayer does not require any elaborate ritual.

On holidays please visit poor people/orphanages etc. This keeps our eyes and ears open to the difficulties of others and render manava seva and this is Madhava seva. I am following this and I find that I am able to meet the right type of people in my life all along.

R.A. Chandiramouliswara, Chennai

The daily life is full of turmoil. The ambitions, aspirations and expectations are a constant source of misery to one and all. Remembrance and meditation on the holy name of Guru deep within our heart gives us little solace and energy for meeting the needs of daily life. I feel only a spiritual person can offload all his or her worries at the lotus feet of Guru and find peace.
